Dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law, Speaks on how the Constitution Relates to a Future Career in Law

Sep. 24, 2009 By Jenna Bartlo

Kenneth Starr, dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law, as well as former United States Federal Judge and Solicitor General will be hosting a lecture at Biola University on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 7 p.m. in Sutherland Auditorium. Starr will be speaking on how the Constitution is integrated into preparing for a future career in law.

This event is sponsored by the Biola University Department of History, Government, and Social Science, and is for students majoring in history, political science, social humanities and the Torrey Honors Institute, but is open to the general public as well.

“We are in the process of upgrading our pre-law concentration and what better way then to bring a well-known federal prosecutor in to be at the starting point of a growing department?,” said George Giacumakis, chairman of the Department of History, Government, and Social Science.

Biola University has asked Starr to speak primarily on how the constitution relates to the career of law and how it will affect the lives of students who are looking at a future in law, as well as to how it is being interpreted within his own life.

Starr, known for The Starr Report, was chosen to speak at Biola University for a variety of reasons. He has an extensive background as well as a top position at one of California’s most prominent law schools. He is also well known and has worked for the federal government as an independent prosecutor. Starr brings insight to the field of law and will be able to offer a deeper insight for those who are interested in a future career in law.
