On March 31, 2010, Matthew Weathers, Biola University professor of mathematics, started April Fools Day early and played a trick on his Nature of Mathematics class with a clever video that reached 50,000 views within four days on YouTube and now only a week later has reached 1,000,000 views. Weathers’ shadow seems to detach from Weathers and become his own person and includes a cameo appearance from Biola’s president Barry H. Corey.

Watch the video on YouTube.

Weathers was deemed as the “Best Math Teacher Ever,” in the social media realm in October by those who viewed and reposted his lighthearted Halloween themed video that similarly entertained students.

In October, less than two weeks after posting his Halloween video onto YouTube, the video received nearly 1,000,000 views combined and 23 social media sites had linked to it.

The class, a general education math course, was clearly entertained by the April Fools video, which is quickly becoming a viral video.
