Biola announces its election of Rev. Bryan Loritts, a rising dynamic Christian leader, to Biola University’s Board of Trustees. Loritts, the lead pastor of Fellowship Memphis, a multicultural church ministering to the community of urban Memphis, broadens the regional representation of Biola’s board and shares the heart of Biola’s mission.
Loritts is a graduate of Biola’s Talbot School of Theology and has spoken at Biola’s Torrey Conferences and a number of chapels — a favorite speaker among students. Loritts had multiple reasons he accepted the nomination to be a member of the board.
“As an alumni here; one, I love this school and two, the investment this school has made in my life personally through scholarships, teachers, everyone — I feel obligated to give back as much as Biola has given me,” said Loritts.
As the pastor of Fellowship Memphis, his dream is to see African-Americans, Whites, Latinos, Asians and beyond walking with each other under the banner of the Lordship of Jesus Christ — a vision Biola seeks as well. Loritts relationship with Biola commenced at a young age when his father, Crawford Loritts, senior pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Georgia, spoke at commencement in December of 1993 and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity.
“We are excited to have an emerging Christian leader like Bryan as our newest trustee,” said Biola President Barry H. Corey. “I am grateful for the depth of wisdom and commitment that this Talbot-educated, dynamic Christian pastor of Fellowship Memphis brings to our governing board.”
Loritts received a BS in Bible/Pastoral Studies from Philadelphia Biblical University, an MA in Biblical and Theological Diversified Studies from Talbot, and is currently pursuing a doctorate from Oxford Graduate School. He is also a national speaker and has authored or contributed to several publications. A member of the Family Life speaker team, he and his wife, Korie, are a part of the “Weekend to Remember” marriage conferences. Bryan, Korie and their three sons live in Collierville, Tennessee.
