LA MIRADA, CALIF. — A five-day academy to foster entrepreneurial skills in the next generation of business leaders will be hosted by Biola University’s Crowell School of Business July 30 to August 3. For the third year in a row, Praxis Academy will bring more than 25 influential leaders to campus to teach Christ-based leadership and skills in a variety of sectors that touch on the integration of innovative business, theology and culture.

Brit Gilmore, president of The Giving Keys, and Andy Crouch, author of “The Tech-Wise Family: Everyday Steps for Putting Technology in its Proper Place,” are two of the more than 25 influential leaders who will speak at keynote sessions and lead roundtable discussions.

“The Crowell School of Business is again privileged to host the Praxis Academy at Biola University,” said Gary Lindblad, dean of Crowell School of Business. “At this year's Academy, the Praxis faculty, including Andy Crouch, Brit Gilmore, and David Blanchard, will further develop the concept of Redemptive Entrepreneurship, that is, the work of joining God in the creative restoration of all things through sacrifice in building ventures and innovating new approaches to solving human problems.”

The week-long conference attracts top-notch students from more than 80 colleges seeking careers in business and leadership. Participants selected through an application process come from different parts of the world, including students from eight Latin American countries and 35 students from Biola, representing more than 80 diverse major fields of study, such as agriculture and religious studies.

“This will likely be our largest academy, breaking the 200 student mark and welcoming a group of ten young entrepreneurs from Latin America,” said Lindblad.

Praxis is a venture group that works with entrepreneurs who are passionate about their faith and determined to impact culture for Christ. Praxis encourages entrepreneurs to allow faith to guide them and have an important role in their business.
