Rosemead School of Psychology’s certificate program in integrative counseling will be closing its program and no longer accepting new applicants.
The Certificate in Integrative Counseling (CIC) is a global online graduate-level program designed to help Christians integrate their faith with compassionate, effective counseling practice. This program, which started in 2016, was offered as a bilingual (Chinese and English) certificate program.
“The influence of this program will have a positive impact for many years,” said Deborah Taylor, Provost and Senior Vice President. “It is with mixed emotions, that this program is ending in its current form.”
Since 2017 Dr. Martha Chiu, director of the program, has served as the primary instructor for five cohorts, totaling more than 140 students from all over China and other parts of Asia. It was offered on a unique bilingual online platform in close partnership with Dr. Shengyang Chiu, CEO of the Institute for the Advancement of Counseling Excellence. The program was initially conceptualized by Dr. Martha Chiu and Dr. Clark Campbell in 2016, and Dr. Campbell’s book, Integrative Psychotherapy: A Christian Approach, served as one of the texts for the program.
“Their collaboration with Biola to develop and implement this graduate, online, certificate program in Asia was truly a remarkable accomplishment that could only have occurred with their thoughtful and diligent work and the blessings of the Holy Spirit,” said Taylor.
